Jeremy Tan, MD, an oculoplastic surgery specialist at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, details some the latest trends in eye trauma surgery at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, and how these treatments are making an impact on the lives of patients.

“Traumas can be functionally disabling and also cosmetically disfiguring,” Tan explained, “We establish function first, and form second.”

Tan also discusses how the latest technology is impacting eye trauma treatment.

“The imaging is getting better and better,” he said. “We have 3D reconstruction that helps us plan if I have very large deficits of bones that are more common and unable to be repaired directly.”
