There are few things better than the sunshine of southwest Florida, and Ophthalmology Times®EyeCon 2022 hybrid interactive conference will hit the Sunshine State Dec. 16-17 at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort in Marco Island, Florida.

The event offers an end-of-year educational experience that boasts the most current data in the ophthalmology subspecialties, giving clinicians the chance to remain current as they enter the New Year.

2022 meeting

The leading experts in ophthalmology’s subspecialties will come together to share the latest data and practical treatment strategies that can be applied to patients in a practice setting.

This year’s program at Ophthalmology Times® EyeCon 2022 will be chaired by Peter J. McDonnell, MD, chief medical editor of Ophthalmology Times®, and director of the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, and Oluwatosin U. Smith, MD, a glaucoma specialist with Glaucoma Associates of Texas in Dallas.

This educational event is geared toward ophthalmologists who treat patients with prevalent and rare ocular conditions. Other health care professionals interested in the treatment of eye diseases and injuries are also invited to participate.

EyeCon agenda

December 16

8:30 am: The meeting kicks off with a welcome address and introductory comments.

8:40 am: Alvin Liu, MD, will deliver the keynote address, titled New Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and an Update in Pharmacology.

11:40 am: Retina Session 1: Optimizing Advances in Diabetic Retinopathy—A. Paul Chous, MA, OD

1:55 pm: Retina Session 2: Wet and Dry Age-related Macular Degeneration—Rishi Singh, MD

2:55 pm: Pediatric Challenges: Myopia and Retinopathy of Prematurity—Jeff Doyle, MD, PhD, MHS

Retina Session 2: Wet and Dry Age-related Macular Degeneration

5:15 pm: Award-Winning (Tear) Film: Treating Dry Eye Disease—Esen Akpek, MD, and Stephen Pflugfelder, MD

Panel discussion and question-and-answer sessions are included throughout the day’s presentations, with the day’s events adjourning at 5:25 pm.

December 17

8:30 am: Day 2 begins with opening comments

8:40 am: Program co-chairs Dr. McDonnell and Dr. Smith will deliver the keynote address.

2:00 pm: Incorporating Topical Therapy in Presbyopia Management—Jennifer Loh, MD

3:30 pm: Office-Based Oculoplastics for the Comprehensive Ophthalmologist—William May, MD

Panel discussion and question-and-answer sessions are included throughout the second day’s presentations, with the day’s events adjourning at 4:30 pm.
