Rahhal, MD, sits down with Modern Retina™ editor Emily Kaiser to discuss how repackaged IV bevacizumab (Avastin, Genentech) has altered the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and concerns clinicians should consider when utilizing this therapy option for their patients. He also weighs in on the future of an ophthalmic solution of bevacizumab to circumvent concerns with doses compounded at a pharmacy.

Dr. Rahhal is a partner at Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group in Los Angeles. He is also an associate clinical professor of ophthalmology at the UCLA School of Medicine, Jules Stein Eye Institute. As a clinical researcher, he has published dozens of scientific papers and frequently presents at major scientific meetings.
