San Francisco-The first session of a unique training program, Premium Lens Boot Camp, to help refractive and cataract surgeons grow their accommodating/multifocal lens business will be held June 5 at the O’Hare Marriott, Chicago.

The daylong session will focus on strategies, marketing, and tactics designed to help surgeons, administrators, counselors, and other clinical staff personnel improve premium lens close rates and patient satisfaction.

An interdisciplinary team will provide perspectives based on experience in his or her respective field. Team members include Paul Dougherty, MD, IOL specialist and medical director of Dougherty Laser Vision, Camarillo, CA, and Los Angeles; David Krier, business operations/software consultant and president of Patient Concepts, Camarillo, CA; and Yvonne Martin, MBA, retail medicine consultant, former COMT/practice administrator, and chief executive officer of Business Management Group, Camarillo, CA.

“The key to increasing premium IOL volume is learning how to communicate the benefits of such lenses, and how patients can fit the cost into their budget,” said Martin, also co-founder of the lens boot camp. “As LASIK volumes decline, premium IOLs can help surgeons differentiate their practice and generate substantial revenue from the growing ‘baby boomer’ market.”

For more information about the boot camp, call 877/670-7602 or visit www.PremiumLensBootCamp. Additional sessions are planned for other cities and will be announced soon.

Program sponsors include Bausch & Lomb/Crystalens, Business Management Group, Chase Health Advantage, Glacial Multimedia, Inspire, and Patient Concepts.
