Silicone hydrogel lens backed by guarantee

Atlanta-CIBA Vision has extended its Platinum Guarantee to include its recently introduced O2OPTIX silicone hydrogel lens.

Atlanta-CIBA Vision has extended its Platinum Guarantee to include its recently introduced O2OPTIX silicone hydrogel lens.

Introduced in September 2004, O2OPTIX is a 2-week replacement lens addition to CIBA Vision's line of silicone hydrogel lenses. O2OPTIX provides the highest oxygen transmissibility of any 2-week soft lens and is designed for patients who follow a daily wear regimen with occasional overnight wear, according to the company. O2OPTIX has FDA approval for daily wear and up to 6-night extended wear.

In March 2004, CIBA Vision originally announced the Platinum Guarantee to aid practitioners when refitting Night & Day lenses for patients who currently wear soft lenses. Night & Day has FDA approval for up to 30 nights continuous wear and is ideal for patients who regularly sleep in their contact lenses. The guarantee offers refunds on up to four boxes returned by patients, as well as a $40 credit to help offset the time spent refitting. The new "Double Platinum" guarantee now includes O2OPTIX, with the same terms as the original program. The "Double Platinum" guarantee will remain in effect until the end of 2005.

"Our 'Double Platinum' guarantee provides reassurance to eyecare professionals who have been hesitant to begin upgrading to the new generation of advanced soft lens materials for their patients."

Details of the "Double Platinum" guarantee are available from CIBA Vision customer service and sales representatives.
