A new take on an old definition of glaucoma

The definition of glaucoma has been debated since the Hippocratic erasome 2,500 years ago, and it is a debate that has not yet reached a conclusion.M. Bruce Shields, MD, jumped into that debate with a new definition: glaucomais a group of optic neuropathies with progressive stages in which IOP isthe most important cause of adverse effects.
