Pleasanton, CA-MLI (formerly Massie Laboratories) has appointed Keith L. Mullowney as president, chief executive officer, and board chairman of the advanced diagnostic and data capture systems company.

The company, which specializes in systems for pediatric and adult eye healthcare, also has changed its name to Clarity Medical Systems Inc.

"Clarity speaks to the ability to see and understand with acuity and insight," Mullowney said. "This is an ideal name for the future of the company because it represents both what our technology is designed to do, as well as our vision for transforming the delivery of eye healthcare."

Before joining Clarity Medical Systems Inc., Mullowney co-founded Thermage, a medical device company specializing in the aesthetic market, and served as its president and chief executive officer before becoming its chairman. Mullowney succeeds Mike Napier, the executive vice president and interim chief executive officer.
