The FDA has approved a new 9-mm version of the suction ring used in Norwood EyeCare's Centurion SES Epikeratome with EpiEdge for Epi-LASIK.
The 510(k) clearance allows surgeons to choose the ring size most suitable for the eye, particularly for patients of Asian background who might need a smaller size to reduce the chance of involving epithelial stem cells at the limbus. The suction ring also will remain available in its current 10-mm size.
