EyeCon 2022: Award-winning (tear) film - treating dry eye disease

Stephen Pflugfelder, MD, professor and director of the Ocular Surface Center at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, presents a challenging diagnostic dilemma.

Hi, I'm Steve Pflugfelder. I'm professor and director of the Ocular Surface Center at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

My presentation is going to present a challenging diagnostic dilemma. It highlights that all dry eye conditions are not the same. It's a very good idea to have some idea on how to classify dry eye both through a careful history and your examination. And through that you can often identify the more challenging problems that's essential for a happy patient in an award-winning tear film.

In my particular case, it shows that the patient had been treated for other conditions without success and then when I identified the underlying problem, which was conjunctivochalasis, and did the appropriate treatment the patient was extremely happy and was able to get back to a normal functioning life.
