Des Plaines, IL-A new Category III CPT code has been released by the American Medical Association (AMA) to cover the micro-thin prescription inserts (Intacs, Addition Technology) procedure for keratoconus.

Des Plaines, IL-A new Category III CPT code has been released by the American Medical Association (AMA) to cover the micro-thin prescription inserts (Intacs, Addition Technology) procedure for keratoconus.

The designated code is 0099T. Category III codes are temporary codes to designate emerging technology.

A Category III code has 5 years to become mainstream, at which time it may be promoted to a permanent Category I code, according to the AMA.
