Sterling, VA-WaveLight Inc. has honored four surgeons for their work in advancing new refractive laser technology through their early adoption of the company's Allegretto Wave excimer laser system.

A fourth and top honor went to Charles Moore, MD, who was given the Global Ambassador Award for his "unrelenting" support of the Allegretto Wave, said Wade Tetsuka, the company's president of U.S. operations.

Drs. Atwal and Alexander were among the first ophthalmologists to acquire the system within months of its FDA approval, and Dr. Gordon was a key investigator during clinical trials.

The awards were presented during the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in late October.
