-Topcon Medical Systems Inc. has introduced a new slit lamp (SL-3G).

The device features a stereoscopic converging microscope and optics that allow users to change magnifications between 1 x and 1.6 x easily with the use of a lever, according to the company. Also, a 6-volt, 20-watt halogen bulb provides illumination designed to resemble natural daylight to help ensure optimum color rendition and detailed, extended observation through narrower slit apertures.

Additional features, according to the company, include a 20° slit beam inclination designed to make the equipment more versatile in gonioscopy and fundus observation; four built-in filters to facilitate special exams; continuous adjustment of slit aperture; and an angular measurement scale designed to simplify the fitting of contact lenses to treat astigmatism.

The technology is available with a variety of optional accessories and also can be integrated with laser photocoagulators accepting various delivery systems.
