Top surgical residents named in competition

Fort Lauderdale, FL-Three residents shared honors in the 2005 Bloomberg Memorial Videotape Competition for cataract and implant surgery.

Brett D. Brimhall, MD, of the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, TX, took top honors with the $3,500 prize. Tim L. Austin, MD, of the University of Alabama at Birmingham earned second place with the $2,500 prize. David T. Kan, MD, of Baylor College of Medicine's Cullen Eye Institute placed third with the $1,500 prize.

The winners were announced Feb. 27 during the American College of Eye Surgery (ACES)/SEE annual meeting. The contest was sponsored by Advanced Medical Optics Inc.
