Boca Raton, FL-Nova Vision Inc. has installed its device (Vision Restoration Therapy [VRT]) in two centers in Texas, where therapists can help restore sight to people who have been left partially blind by a stroke or brain injury.

The FDA-cleared, non-invasive device is based on neuroplasticity and helps the brain to adapt and form new connections to compensate for injury. It was placed in HealthSouth Center for Neurological Research and Recovery in Houston and Ophthalmology Associates in Fort Worth.

The device consists of comprehensive diagnostic testing that maps the seeing and non-seeing areas of vision, and a customized therapy that the patient performs daily at home for 6 to 7 months to restore vision. Since 2004, the company has treated more than 1,000 patients through a network of 45 centers.
