SynergEyes launches new multifocal hybrid contact lens

SynergEyes Inc. has launched what it says is the first hybrid multifocal contact lens designed specifically for patients with presbyopia (SynergEyes Multifocal).

San Diego-SynergEyes Inc. has launched what it says is the first hybrid multifocal contact lens designed specifically for patients with presbyopia (SynergEyes Multifocal). The new lens option simultaneously can correct astigmatism and near and distance vision, according to the company.

The FDA-approved multifocal lens combines a rigid center and soft lens skirt. Hybrid design enables excellent centration and stability on the eye, according to the company. The lathed, non-polished lens surface is designed to offer full correction of corneal astigmatism while concentrating visual optics, both near and far.

Kellie Kaseburg, vice president of global marketing for SynergEyes, said that the hybrid multifocal contact lens "gives eye care professionals a one-of-a-kind tool to satisfy one of the largest growing patient demographics in the world."
