Monrovia, CA-STAAR Surgical Co. and Canadian distributor Coherent-AMT have entered into an agreement for Coherent-AMT to provide service and sales coverage to all of Canada.

Coherent-AMT will have the right to sell STAAR Surgical's products that are approved for sale in Canada, including the Visian implantable collamer lens (ICL), Visian toric implantable collamer lens (TICL), cataract lenses, and related products. The distributor will not market any products that compete with products that STAAR Surgical offers for resale. Coherent-AMT will also carry inventory of STAAR Surgical products.

"We are very pleased to partner with Coherent-AMT and believe that their strong positioning in the ophthalmic medical device market in Canada will allow us to continue to build market share and mindshare for STAAR products," said David Bailey, STAAR president and chief executive officer.
