Atlanta-Eye-care professionals are shifting their business from HEMA to silicone hydrogel lenses, according to data from Health Products Research.

The survey results, released by CIBA Vision, show silicone hydrogel lenses accounted for 29% of new fits of soft lenses in the United States during the first quarter of 2005, compared with 17% a year ago.

CIBA Vision said its O2Optix brand accounted for 8.5% of all soft lens new fits during the quarter.
