Schwind, Ziemer form marketing alliance

Schwind eye-tech-solutions and Ziemer Ophthalmic solutions have formed a marketing alliance to offer an integrated system featuring their lasers for refractive surgeons performing all-laser LASIK.

Kleinostheim, Germany, and Port, Switzerland—Schwind eye-tech-solutions and Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems have formed a marketing alliance to offer an integrated system featuring their lasers (Amaris excimer and Femto LDV femtosecond, respectively) for refractive surgeons performing all-laser LASIK.

“Ziemer’s femtosecond laser is an ideal complement to our product range and offers attractive added value for our existing and new customers,” said Rolf Schwind, chief executive officer of Schwind.

Ziemer Group President Frank Ziemer said, “With Schwind, we are forming an alliance with a strong and reliable partner to address additional market opportunities.”

The two companies will serve international markets through their existing distribution networks. Distribution partners jointly will offer packages to their customers.

The marketing alliance is non-exclusive. Both companies will continue to market and sell their products individually as well as jointly, and both companies remain open to collaborations with other manufacturers and providers of surgical laser systems.
