Parsippany, NJ-Safilo USA and its employees have donated eyeglasses and money to the Gulf Coast region to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The company donated 1,000 children's eyeglass frames to VCA's Vision Alliance and Relief Fund, and sent 400 reading glasses to the Texas Optometric Association Inc., which was working with the University of Houston College of Optometry's optical relief effort.

The company also raised $70,000- in the form of contributions from employees, independent sales representatives and a corporate matching program-for the Red Cross relief effort. Employees also raised additional funds for independent sales representatives living in the affected areas.
