Reminder service helps improve contact lens compliance

Jacksonville, FL-Vistakon has launched Acuminder, a free online service designed to help contact lens users comply with recommended schedules for changing their lenses, thereby enhancing eye health for the 38 million contact lens wearers in the United States.

The service was developed following research conducted among more than 3,000 visitors to the Acuvue Web site, http://www.acuvue.com/, which indicated that contact lens noncompliance is on the rise. In 2005, 59% of respondents claimed to change their lenses less often than recommended by their doctors. In 2006, that number increased to 79%.

Contact lens wearers who register for the service may choose to receive an automatic reminder via e-mail, text message, or computer desktop prompt. Contact lens wearers may register at http://www.acuminder.com/.
