Marlborough, MA-Optos was given the award for enterprise by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. The award was given to Chief Executive Officer Thomas W. Butts at Buckingham Palace this summer.

The winners of this award must have achieved outstanding results in their respective fields over a specified period. Companies in the international trade category must have demonstrated continuous outstanding growth in overseas earnings for no less than 3 years.

Optos has the technology to assist eye-care professionals in detecting both eye and non-eye disease early on, according to the company. Its digital ultra-widefield image can capture 82% of the retina, compared with conventional examination techniques that produce a view of 5%.

"We know that the standards required to win this award are extremely high, and it exemplifies the excellent work being carried out by our employees," said Butts.
