Pinellas Park, FL-Transitions Optical Inc. now offers a consumer-oriented guide created to give patients a clearer picture of their eyewear options.
Available online now and soon in a hard-copy version, "The Eyeglass Guide" provides details of eyewear-buying basics, from the benefits of various lens options-for example material choices and lens types-to vision-optimizing enhancements, such as anti-reflective coatings and photochromics. It also offers tips for choosing a frame and highlights the solutions offered by multiple pairs of eyewear.
"Often, by the time patients are ready to purchase eyewear, they are overwhelmed with their choices, and the easier-to-understand frame selection usually takes priority," said Grady Lenski, commercial strategy and operations director, Transitions.
Although the guide provides general principles for selecting eyewear, it also reinforces the role of eye-care professionals (ECPs) in the eyeglass-buying process. It also gives patients a checklist of topics they can bring to their appointments to spark dialogue with the ECP. "The Eyeglass Guide" Web site includes a brief quiz that provides a "virtual" eyeglass recommendation.
ECPs can use the guide in their interaction with patients as well. Eye-care practices with an online presence also can post a link to the guide on their Web site. Hard copies of the guide can be ordered for use as reading material in office waiting rooms or as a tool to support discussion on lens options. ECPs can obtain copies by calling Transitions Optical Customer Service at 800/848-1506 or by asking their Transitions Solutions Team representative.
