Lisbon, Portugal - MLI (formerly Massie Laboratories), of Pleasanton, CA, United States, and manufacturers of diagnostic and data capture system for the eye-care market, has named Keith Mullowney as the company’s new president, chief executive officer, and board chairman. The company also changed its name to Clarity Medical Systems.

Mullowney brings more than 20 years of management experience in the medical technology industry to the company. Recently, he served as chairman of Thermage, a medical device company specializing in the aesthetic market. Mullowney co-founded and led this company as president and chief executive officer for 7 years.  Mullowney also held top management positions at Aprex, a device and health-care information technology firm, and at Synvasive, a specialty orthopedic device manufacturer.

The name change to Clarity Medical Systems comes as the company reviews its mission.

“Clarity speaks to the ability to see and understand acuity and insight,” Mullowney said. “This is an ideal name for the future of the company because it represents both what our technology is designed to do, as well as our vision for transforming the delivery of eye health care.”
