LASIK surgeons take note: myopia is a retinal disease
Miami-LASIK is not an independent risk factor for the development of rhegmatog-enous retinal detachment, but all LASIK candidates should undergo a screening exam of the fundus periphery for retinal pathology and patients with myopia should be informed that it is a risk factor for retinal detachment, said Carmen A. Puliafito, MD, MBA.
