Key Points

Carlsbad, CA-A new hybrid contact lens (SynergEyes Multifocal, SynergEyes Inc.) is being offered for the management of emerging presbyopia.

The lens comes in a +0.75-D add power as well as the three other add powers (+1.25, +1.75, and +2.25 D) already available. The new addition is designed for patients with emerging presbyopia who would like binocular visual acuity.

"Patients with emerging presbyopia typically start off with monovision contact lenses, which require patients to compromise their intermediate vision and their depth perception," said Wes Wheadon, OD, in a statement. "Having a lower add power available will enable practitioners to fit the lens on more patients with emerging presbyopia and optimize visual acuity at all distances."
