FDA priority review for tinlarebant: Byron Lam, MD, and Benjamin Bakall, MD, PhD, weigh in

The FDA's decision to grant priority review to Belite Bio's tinlarebant (LBS-008) for Stargardt disease type 1 (STGD1) has raised new questions about how retina specialists should prepare for what could become the first approved treatment for the inherited retinal disorder. For their perspectives, Modern Retina spoke with Byron Lam, MD, professor of ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and Benjamin Bakall, MD, PhD, assistant clinical professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix and director of the Inherited Retinal Disease and Visual Function Clinic at Associated Retina Consultants. Both physicians bring extensive clinical experience treating patients with inherited retinal disease to their assessment of what an approval could mean.
