Eyeonics releases enhanced lens design

Aliso Viejo, CA—Eyeonics Inc. said it has enhanced its crystalens design and eliminated the need for postoperative cycloplegia in its newly released crystalens SE system.

Aliso Viejo, CA-Eyeonics Inc. said it has enhanced its crystalens design and eliminated the need for postoperative cycloplegia in its newly released crystalens SE system.

The "system," which the company announced last month, has three facets: the company extended the square edge all the way around the crystalens to help maintain the capsular bag; said it was no longer necessary to paralyze the ciliary muscles postoperatively; and announced a new delivery system for the lens.

The company said the lens was validated for use with the STAAR Indigo Injector System, which allows the lens to be inserted via a smaller, sub-3-mm incision without directly handling it.
