Chicago-Ellex Medical Lasers Ltd. has released a comprehensive e-book-“It’s All About Outflow”-describing the role of canaloplasty in clinical practice.

Bringing together experienced canaloplasty surgeons from around the word, the e-book provides a wealth of practical insight and features a series of in-depth, fully referenced articles.

Chapter 1 of the e-book-featuring the article “Canaloplasty and SLT: Joining Forces to Restore Outflow,” by Steven R. Sarkisian, MD-is being launched here at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

“I have been performing canaloplasty for [more than] 6 years now and have achieved very satisfactory outcomes on hundreds of patients in that period,” Dr. Sarkisian said.

a“One of the more compelling reasons for using this technique is that it takes due account of the eye’s natural outflow system and actually restores the physiological outflow pathways,” he said. “This is in contrast to most other glaucoma treatments which not only fail to address the eye’s natural drainage system but may also, in some cases, even impede this outflow function.”
