Dr. Glisson appointed medical director for Saint Mary's Health Care

Grand Rapids, MI-Christopher Glisson, DO, MS, has been appointed to serve as medical director of the neuro-ophthalmology program at Saint Mary's Healthcare, Grand Rapids, MI, as well as an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology at Michigan State University's (MSU) Michigan College of Human Medicine.

Grand Rapids, MI-Christopher Glisson, DO, MS, has been appointed to serve as medical director of the neuro-ophthalmology program at Saint Mary's Healthcare, Grand Rapids, MI, as well as an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology at Michigan State University's (MSU) Michigan College of Human Medicine.

Dr. Glisson's neuro-ophthalmology practice will be housed in Saint Mary's neurosciences department and will move into the new Hauenstein Center when it opens in 2009.

His appointment is the first in a joint initiative to identify and create neurological subspecialty services in the area, said David Kaufman, DO, chair of the college's department of neurology.

Dr. Glisson will work with MSU clinical researchers and neuro-biologists on prognosis strategies and treatments for a variety of neurological disorders.

"The partnership between the medical school and the hospital, along with the research capability, presents a wonderful opportunity for patients and families. This holds great promise for the future," Dr. Glisson said.
