Dr. Fineberg presents 'future of health care' in AAO opening session keynote address

The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) is pleased to announce Harvey V. Fineberg, MD, PhD, president of the Institute of Medicine, as this year's keynote speaker.

Atlanta-The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) is pleased to announce Harvey V. Fineberg, MD, PhD, president of the Institute of Medicine, as this year's keynote speaker. Dr. Fineberg will give his keynote address, "Seeing the Future of Health Care," during the opening session on Sunday, Nov. 9, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Hall A-3 Session Room at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Due to a schedule conflict, Michael T. Osterholm, PhD, MPH, will not be able to deliver the address this year, as previously announced.

Dr. Fineberg served as provost of Harvard University from 1997 to 2001, following 13 years as dean of the Harvard School of Public Health. He has devoted most of his academic career to the fields of health policy and medical decision-making. His past research has focused on the process of policy development and implementation, assessment of medical technology, evaluation and use of vaccines, and dissemination of medical innovations.
