Deal creates mega contact lens distributor

Fort Lauderdale, FL-ABB Optical has acquired the contact lens business of Yonkers, NY-based Wise Optical.

The deal creates the largest contact lens distributor in the United States, with a projected annual revenue of $150 million, two times more than its nearest competitor. ABB will have about 12,000 customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wise Optical, which had customers in the Middle Atlantic and Northeastern states, will continue to place orders through its customer service representatives, and orders will be filled from the Yonkers distribution center.
