Irvine, CA-Sept. 28 is the deadline for receipt of applications to the Allergan Inc. Horizon Grant program.

The program provides funding to support fellows conducting clinical research related to the diagnosis or pharmacologic treatment of glaucoma as well as corneal and retinal diseases at academic medical institutions. In 2006, the first year of the program, the company awarded 10 grants to 13 ophthalmology programs.

Department chairpersons, division chiefs, and fellowship program directors at academic institutions may submit applications to Allergan Medical Affairs, 2525 Dupont Dr., Irvine, CA 92612. Grant recipients will be announced at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in November in New Orleans.
