St. Paul, MN-The Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists Education and Research Foundation (CLAO ERF) Board of Trustees will make available scientific research grants to be awarded July 1.

The grants, valued at up to $10,000 each, are intended to support research proposals specifically concerned with issues directly related to contact lens science or ocular anterior segment science. Preference will be given to well-defined short-term projects and initial studies directed toward new research initiatives.

Awards will be made on the basis of scientific merit according to current funding capabilities, with a minimum of three awards provided this year. Persons eligible to apply include, but are not limited to ophthalmologists, optometrists, and basic scientists. Technicians, nurses, optometry students, ophthalmology residents, and fellows-supervised by a scientist associated with an academic institution-also are eligible to apply.
