The imaging technology is designed to assist in the early detection and management of glaucoma by comparing detailed measurements of a patient's retinal nerve fiber layer with a large, multi-racial normative database. The technology also incorporates neural network techniques to calculate the probability of glaucoma.

Dr. Webb, a general ophthalmologist for the past 20 years, said the equipment offers a significant advancement over visual inspection of the optic nerve, visual field testing, and IOP measurements.
