Boston Micromachines' mirror earns most innovative product for 2007

Watertown, MA-The editors of R&D magazine and Micro/Nano newsletter recognized Boston Micromachines' latest version of its deformable mirror (Multi-DM) as one of the most innovative products of 2007.

Watertown, MA-The editors of R&D magazine and Micro/Nano newsletter recognized Boston Micromachines' latest version of its deformable mirror (Multi-DM) as one of the most innovative products of 2007.

The magazine and newsletter recognize Boston Micromachines for its innovation in developing a deformable mirror for ultra high-resolution retinal imaging which is necessary for the early detection of ocular disease.

Twenty-five awards are given to the developers of the most innovative and most groundbreaking products, processes, inventions, discoveries, or innovations in micro- and nanotechnology in the past year and those having the largest impact on specific industry or society in general.

Boston Micromachines' new mirror has an increased stroke while maintaining high resolution. The mirror can provide high-speed, real-time imaging with a 5-mm aperture suited for a dilated pupil.

The mirror will also enhance other biological imaging areas. Biological imaging instruments can suffer from resolution limitations, constraining the ability of researchers and clinicians to detect critical detail.
