Bascom Palmer programs recognized with Ophthalmology Times award

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, was honored with a crystal vase representing the Ophthalmology Times Best Program Awards.


New Orleans-The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, was honored with a crystal vase representing the Ophthalmology Times Best Program Awards.

The institution was ranked first for the categories of best clinical program and best residency program. Each year, the magazine conducts a poll of chairmen and residency directors in ophthalmology programs across the United States.

Mark L. Dlugoss, editor-in-chief of Ophthalmology Times, presented the award to Eduardo Alfonso, MD, professor of ophthalmology and the Edward W.D. Norton Chair in Ophthalmology, who accepted the award on behalf of Carmen Puliafito, MD, professor and chairman of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. The award was presented before Bascom Palmer alumni and friends at the group's party at the Windsor Court Hotel Sunday evening.
