Assessing immune status key in approaching infectious uveitis
Editor's Note: Both systemic and ocular infections may be associated with intraocular inflammation. Identifying infectious causes of uveitis is essential, both because in most cases appropriate treatment requires use of specific anti-microbial agents, and because failure to recognize an infectious cause of uveitis can lead to prolonged inflammation, increased risk of ocular complications, and in some cases increased systemic morbidity or even death.
