AMO's Mazzo named chairman of board
Santa Ana, CA-James V. Mazzo can add chairman of the board to his title at Advanced Medical Optics Inc. (AMO), where he is also director, president, and chief executive officer.
Mazzo succeeds former chairman William R. Grant, who has decided to step down. Grant served as the company's chairman since its spin-off from Allergan Inc. in 2002, and will remain a member of AMO's board.
"It has been an honor to serve AMO as chairman," Grant said. "I believe this is an ideal time for me to step aside and transition the chairmanship to Jim Mazzo. I am confident in his ability to guide the board and AMO to an even brighter future."
The AMO board also announced that the independent directors have named James O. Rollans as presiding director. Rollans will routinely preside over executive sessions and board meetings when the chairman is not present. He has served as an AMO director and chairman of its Audit and Finance Committee since 2002.
