Alcon Refractive Horizon has had to deactivate two algorithms in all LADAR6000 lasers in the US that caused corneal abnormalities in myopia patients undergoing LASIK.

The laser system is indicated for patients aged 21 and older who have mild-to-moderate myopia and hyperopia. The algorithms were recalled because they caused corneal "central islands" and visual acuity problems that were sometimes not correctable with laser, glasses or contact lenses.
