Washington, DC?The American Academy of Ophthalmology's governmental affairs team has been named one of the nine most effective groups to lobby Congress. The AAO's team?led by Catherine Grealy Cohen?was one of only two groups representing a medical specialty included on the list by The Hill newspaper, which focuses on the work of Congress.

The team plans to tackle several Medicare physician reimbursement issues as its top priority for 2006. Among those challenges are the sustainable growth rate (SGR), pay for performance, and the 5-year review of work values.
