What about Physician Morale?
When hospitals buy medical practices, they acquire a new class of employee-physicians. The results are filtering in: this employee class is hard to keep happy. Morale is low among employee physicians and that leads to low productivity, resistance to change, and passive-aggressive, obstructionist behavior in the group. Hospital executives need to take a lesson from Aretha Franklin.
