Designed with more predictability, safety, and precision, the Rhondo microkeratome is a sharp, extremely precise oscillating cutter used during LASIK, according to the manufacturer. The microkeratome cuts an ultra-thin flap in the cornea.

The unit features an elevated suction ring with vacuum adjustment; integrated peristaltic pump to connect an aspiration lid retractor; oscillation at 8,000 rpm; automatic head advancement; variable hinge position and size; pre-assembled head for quick application onto the eye; ability to create flap thicknesses of 100, 130, and 150 µm; ability to create flap diameters of 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, and 10 mm; low IOP, and integrated barcode scanner and thermal printer.

The Rondo microkeratome has received the CE mark in Europe. It is not yet approved in the United States.
