New York-To complete its Langdong Hospital in Nanning, China, Tongji Healthcare, Inc. has engaged German-based Dr. Petri Hospital Consulting.

The health-care and pharmaceutical services provider previously announced the hospital was nearly complete, but has now re-adjusted architectural and operational plans to include additional features.

The new project will incorporate additional architecture to connect with the original buildings, an additional parking tower, and 200 more sick beds. State-of-the-art facilities will be offered for neuro-ophthalmology surgery, ophthalmic plastic surgery, retinal disease, and diabetic retinopathy, as well as pediatric ophthalmology.

"Due to the recent disaster in the Sichuan province, we felt that adding space and features to the hospital made sense for long-term health care in our Province. We have held discussions with numerous western architectural firms to re-engineer our project and feel we have chosen the 'best one'," said Yun-hui Yu, president and chief executive officer. "We know we are a bit behind schedule, but unforeseen events have made it apparent that to satisfy the increased demand in patients, we needed to add important features to improve the health-care facilities."
