Carlsbad, CA-SynergEyes Inc. has been awarded a U.S. patent, its fourth, for methods of manufacturing its hybrid contact lenses.

The newest patent complements previous patents for the high Dk hybrid lens itself, and the HyperBond technology that provides the strong junction between the rigid center and soft skirt. Another patent covers the method used to provide a rotationally stable platform for front surface toric, de-centered multifocal, and wavefront-guided hybrid lenses.

SynergEyes co-founder and chief technology officer Jerry Legerton, OD, FAAO, said, "We are delivering on our promise to develop a hybrid lens with high-oxygen permeability."
