Symposium looks at geneticists' view of visual system

A symposium organized by the American Society for Human Genetics aimedto provide ARVO attendees with the geneticists' view of the visual system.Moderator Dr. J Boughman emphasized that recent progress in geneticresearch will allow for increased identification of disease-related genesand subsequently advances that have helpful implications in the clinicalmilieu. In that regard, there is interest in the development of genetictests, but the availability of such tools will bring a number of challengesfor consumers and clinicians, she said.
