STAAR Surgical launches marketing initiative

More than 450 physicians and 250 practice administrators registered for the first of a nine-part Web seminar series about STAAR Surgical Co.'s implantable contact lens (Visian Implantable Collamer Lens).

Monrovia, CA-More than 450 physicians and 250 practice administrators registered for the first of a nine-part Web seminar series about STAAR Surgical Co.'s implantable contact lens (Visian Implantable Collamer Lens).

The new marketing initiative was developed in collaboration with Brian Boxer Wachler, MD, who recently was featured on NBC's "Today" show performing bilateral implantation of the lens in his office suite. The work of other surgeons who use the lens also has been featured on numerous local and cable television shows recently: Steven Chang, MD, appeared on ABC in San Francisco; Konrad Filutowski, MD, was a guest on Fox in Orlando; and William Goldstein, MD, appeared on Fox in Detroit. Additionally, Paul Dougherty, MD, is to be featured on upcoming episodes of the "Modern Beauty Show" on the Style Channel.

"We are pleased and excited that so many physicians and practice administrators took advantage of this program," said Barry G. Caldwell, president and chief executive officer of STAAR Surgical. "In future sessions . . . other successful surgeons may be joining Dr. Boxer Wachler to share their experiences."
