SLT as primary therapy for POAG
Effective at lowering pressure and repeatability make SLT first choice

Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) has been applied in clinical practice since 2001. Before that time, the only laser surgery available to us that we could use in the chamber angle was argon laser trabeculoplasty (ALT). Compared with ALT, SLT is much better for the trabecular meshwork tissue and it has now completely eradicated the use of ALT. A number of studies in the literature comparing the two methods have demonstrated this.1
