Simplicity of instrument design yields complete package

A set of four instruments for cataract surgery (Devgan Cataract Set, Bausch & Lomb Storz Instruments) simplifies the needs of surgeons.

Key Points

"I believe in simplicity," said Dr. Devgan, designer of the instrument set.

"The best solutions tend to be the simplest ones," continued Dr. Devgan, a partner at the Maloney Vision Institute, Los Angeles, and chief of ophthalmology at Olive View UCLA Medical Center and associate clinical professor at the UCLA School of Medicine.

Micro capsulorhexis forceps

The ultra-fine tips of the micro capsulorhexis forceps can be used for small-incision procedures and with 2-mm co-axial phaco incisions. The slightly sharpened tips let the surgeon puncture the capsule without the need to open with a cystotome.

Cataract chopper/multi-tool

The universal cataract management chopper/multi-tool allows the surgeon to perform multiple functions with one double-ended instrument.
