In short...

Fluorescent dye patent: Akorn has received a U.S. patent for fluorescent dye angiography and dye-enhanced photocoagulation for the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal vasculature. The dye, indocyanine green (ICG), could be used in the diagnosis and treatment of choroidal neovascularization associated with age-related macular degeneration. The dye would identify abnormal vasculature and target a laser to stop the blood flow that feeds it.
