Researchers identify molecular target for diabetic retinopathy
Boston-Activation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) may initiate blood-retinal barrier breakdown during the onset of diabetes in rats. The VEGF activity seems to occur partly in the capillaries and venules of the superficial layer of the retina.
